Youth Scholarship Application Information

 

To apply for a scholarship:

The CVBC is providing several competitive scholarships to help young people who are interested in birds to attend birding classes or camps. The following classes or camps are considered for this scholarship:

Birding field class at the Sierra Nevada Field Campus near Yuba Pass (San Francisco State University); ages 10-18.

For the field class at the Sierra Nevada Field Campus, the scholarship will pay for the cost of the class for the youth and an adult guardian.

Seattle Audubon Society's Cascades Bird Banding Camp

For all camps, the scholarship will pay for the cost of the registration for the youth participant. Transportation will be the responsibility of the participant.

1. Decide which camp or program you want to attend.

2. Send the following papers by March 1, 2012.

  • A. letter of recommendation from a teacher, parent or an adult birding friend that should cover what they know about your commitment to birds and birding.

  • B. A written personal essay that states the importance of birds to you. The essay should not be more than 2 pages long (standard 8.5X11 in.). Do you try to teach others about birds? Do you draw the birds you see? Do you do any survey or volunteer work? Is listing the most interesting thing to you? We want to know about your interest in birds and birding.

  • C. Application Form (also found on website)

  • 3. Applicants will be informed of decisions no later than March 10, 2012.
