The CVBC is providing several competitive
scholarships to help young people who are interested in
birds to attend birding classes or camps. The following
classes or camps are considered for this scholarship:
Birding field class at the Sierra Nevada Field Campus near Yuba
Pass (San Francisco State University);
ages 10-18.

For the field class at the Sierra Nevada
Field Campus, the scholarship will pay for the cost of the
class for the youth and an adult
guardian.

Wildlife and Fish Biology Putah
Creek Nest Box Highway Youth
Internship Program for
High School Graduating Seniors
In
collaboration with the Central
Valley Bird Club’s Youth
Scholarship Program, the Museum
of Wildlife and Fish Biology is
offering up to two avian field
internships for graduating
seniors of local high schools.
The interns will be involved in
assisting with the Museum’s nest
cavity research program along
Putah Creek, Yolo County. The
intern will assist PhD students
with monitoring nest boxes of
songbirds. The student will be
exposed to applied field
ornithology by conducting nest
surveys, monitoring chick
development and assisting with
bird banding. Special conditions
include: the applicant must have
a valid California Diver’s
License AND transportation to
get the student to and from the
field sites along Putah Creek
(vicinity of Davis), and must
live centrally to Davis,
California (the cities of
Winters, Woodland, Sacramento,
etc). The internship will
last for a period of time during
the months of June and July with
a commitment of 10 hours per
week minimum. The Museum
will financially match the
Central Valley Bird Club’s
scholarship for the successful
intern(s). For information on
